This statement considers the role of farming in maintaining the character of the countryside and how it should be supported in that role; and the need for business diversification and how this can be achieved without damaging the countryside

This statement summarises our views on action by local communities to shape their future through the planning system and in other ways encouraged under the Localism Act

5.  Affordable Housing – updated November 2014

This statement considers the urgent need for the provision of more affordable housing in rural areas and sets out principles to achieve such provision
